ATTENDANCE/ABSENCE
An important key to a student’s success in school is regular and punctual
attendance. Students are expected to come to school on time every day.
It is the
parent’s responsibility to call the school office before 8:15 AM to report
a student’s absence.
Upon returning to school, the parent or guardian must send a
written note explaining the reason for the absence. The written note should accompany
the child when he/she returns to school. Be certain the note is signed, dated, and explains
the reason for the absence. The reason stated in the excuse for the absence determines
if the absence is coded excused or unexcused. In accordance with state law, written
excuses will only be accepted for three days following the last date of absence from
school.
Students are excused from school absence for the following reasons:
1. Personal illness
2. Serious illness in the student’s immediate family
3. Death in family
4. Court Summons
5. Religious holiday
6. Conditions rendering attendance impossible or hazardous to student health or safety.
